just finished all of my cookies for christmas...maybe i'll take some pictures...they might be all gone before then.

watching...

big sci-fi kick right now. re-watching doctor who from 9 onwards. can't wait for the christmas episode. (not to mention the downton abbey christmas episode...eek...) throwing in a little supernatural for good measure. just watched the first episode of glee again. it's nice to remember why i started to love that show in the first place. and crazy to see how much everything has changed. also watching homeland. great show, but unless you watch them consecutively, i think you'd get bored.

just realized i watch too much tv. if i counts for anything...i do bring my ipad when i work out...

loving...

that mr. brack is home for three week! i just finished my last exam so i'm looking forward to spending time with family and having a wonderful christmas break!

i was here

song of the moment!! i don't know why i'm so into beyonce right now but she is rocking my world!

i want to say i lived each day, until i die
and know that i meant something in somebody's life
the hearts i have touched, will be the proof that i leave
that i made a difference, and this world will see

please bring me spring: a playlist

the weather has been so bipolar (pun intended) lately; scorching heat, snow, thunderstorms... that i needed something to keep myself upbeat and positive. so, i've been listening to tons of great new music and i thought it was about time i let you listen to great music, too. (and i wanted to enlighten all of you as to way i've started using the word 'dope' again) (i realize that some of these songs are old music, but to me it's new...)

without you by lana del ray

ok, so i have a huge girl crush on lana del ray (is that in california?) right now... her music is such a great mixture of themes and genres ... it's like folk-indie- hip hop-amazingness ... and she call a boy dope so greatest song ever

miracle by matisyahu

so yes, this song is about hanukkah, and while i'm not a jew or religious (let's go with spiritual...it's complicated) this song just holds a great message in general. it's so positive and uplifting and kinda infectious...

tongue tied by grouplove

such a fun pop song...has a great driving beat, just makes you wanna move...and if mel dawe likes it than it must be good

sail by AWOLNATION

i don't have any idea what this song is about only that they just keep saying sail over and over again. but the music is creepy and amazing.

(so, i just looked up the lyrics and they are very dark and compliment the music perfectly...a song with a very strong message)

disappear by beyonce
(the artist, not mr. brack, because now we're married...

i downloaded the song specifically because it was co-written by hugo and i like beyonce's mellow stuff a lot because her voice is just so beautiful and etherial...

some nights by fun.

this song is so much fun! the tribal pound of the drums mixed with a bit of electro. it kind of reminds me of home for a rest by spirit of the west in that it feels like the perfect ending of something...a culmination

fette's vette by mc chris

i love this because it's about star wars and it features the imperial march and it was in zack and miri make a porno

(also, this is the worst screenshot ever...i'm sorry)

hold me up by live

okay, so this song is from a b-side that was never released or something so you can't find a good copy of it anywhere but...i just love it...it's classic live but has such a pretty melody

(i'm sorry but this is also from zack and miri make a porno...)

zou bisou, bisou by jessica pare

it's fun, it annoys mr brack when i sing it (because i only know the zoo bisou, bisou part) and it's from mad men

china girl by david bowie

just love all of it...especially after seeing how lo-fi this music video is

the monotonous task of organizing my music

for this of you that don't know me, i heart music. in a big way. i sing 98% of my day. even when i'm working. my guests think i'm hilarious...(i'm a waitress. cheeky monkey) so basically for the last, oh i don't know, 5 years, i've been trying to genre-ize my music folder. however, since i am weird, i am trying to categorize everything by decade (well, everything except vocal jazz, country, folk, singer/songwriter stuff...) ok, basically it goes like this: each decade is divided into pop or rock. now i realize that there could be some discrepancies here, but to me it all make perfect sense. let me demonstrate:

first of all, please disregard the fact that i'm listening to the backstreet boys...
sometimes you just gotta...
here are a few examples of what i consider 90's pop
firstly, michael jackson and madonna, artists that span many decades are
constantly reinventing themselves, so 90's mj sounds very different from 80's mj
(also in this case, he looks very different...although you could say that for madonna too i.e. the whole ray of light/asian/yoga/kabalah whatever...but i digress...and hopeful you see my point...)

now when i'm in the mood for some 90's music, i might want the poppy sounds of billie piper or merril bainbridge...i might not be jonesin for say a nice round of tubthumping

or maybe i wanna listen to some doobies, but i don't want to hear the incessant whine of michael macdonald...i can conveniently get rid of that stuff from the 80's.

I AM A GENIUS!

music rut

lately i have been having the most difficult time getting into new music. i can't seem to find something to really cling on to. it's driving me absolutely bananas! here are the few that i can tolerate for a few goes around...enjoy!

call your girlfriend by robyn

one day i got a text from my thrifty friend, mel.
she told me to download this song.
so i did, while on route to work.
i listened to it in the car.
twice...amazing...

this is an a capella version of the robyn song...
equally amazing...

with ur love by cher lloyd ft. mike posner

from a girl who didn't even place top 3 in the uk's x factor
her debut album is a good listen all the way through
this is my fave...i'm attempting to learn all the words so i don't look like an
idiot when i sing along in the car...

paradise by coldplay

there's just something about the instrumentation of this song that
grabs you...it's kinda ethereal and i like it
i'm not going to lie...i haven't been the biggest coldplay fan since rush of blood to the head...
this makes me love them again
and takes me back to high school

rumour has it/ someone like you by the trouble tones (glee)

repeat repeat repeat
i can't even believe how well these songs were mashed up!
the perfect pairing
and amber riley and naya rivera absolutely kill!

something's coming by blaine anderson (glee)

this song kinda makes me feel optimistic...
i've seen the musical, i know what happens...
but darren criss just sounds so full of hope
it gives me the shivers! love love love

i heart jb

even though i get some shit for liking justin bieber, i can't help myself! not only is he the only person i have ever been able to take serious with that stupid, neck- spasming hair style but his songs are just so catchy! here are some of my faves!

stevie wonder

although this is also a nickname for my wonderful boyfriend (who reads my blog faithfully and gave me shit for not posting in a week!...) i'm actually talking about the artist. the other day i was in the dumps, driving to my friends house to watch glee. i was just so sick of being blue that i needed something to cheer me up. that's when my iPod started rocking out some stevie wonder. a little uptight (everything's alright) and it was. so, here is my stevie wonder playlist...theres a little for groovin', and a little for lovin'...xo

for groovin':

higher ground

superstition

i wish

i was made to love her

folk folks

right now i can't get enough of folk rock music. i think it stems from my eternal longing to be a hippy. i just love the soulfulness and the simplicity of these gems because they are the closest thing to life that you get...they make you feel right down to your toes. so, emote. live vicariously through them, make a cup of tea and open a window.
