home

there's no place like it. it's somewhere you leave but alway return. a place you strive to get closer to. it's a one bedroom apartment, in a dark, damp basement. or a place full of memories that go back farther than you can remember. a home is a house full of love. it's not a chair or a lamp. it's the people that fill it with happiness and sadness, laughter and tears, quiet moments and obsessive cursing. it's hidden at the end of a long road, peeking out from behind a huge maple tree. it's a door at the end of a hallway. it's somewhere you're always welcomed by a mat on the doorstep, a jubilent dog (or in my case lazy...), a warm hug, your love waiting silently for you. home is wherever i'm with you...

ode to orange

i'm not one to jump on any bandwagons but this is one i think i can get on board. ORANGE! oh isn't it lovely. one of the only word in the english language that doesn't rhyme with anything (don't ask me what the others are...)

this may be the most expensive thing i've
purchased thrifting.
it was $15 and i dropped the lid
before i bought it...

teacups

i have this new thing for teacups. i can't explain it. it might be because i have a slight obsession with the upcoming royal nuptials. maybe. but i just love em! i can't get enough! i buy a few every time i go thrifting. i don't use them to drink from, i just put stuff in 'em.

uh, no comment...

on my bedside table...i classed it up for the internet...

one for pens...the cup is royal albert the plate doesn't match...

there was a whole set of these with plates and
everything, i might go back a stock up.
for now it'll hold paperclips...

i also have my eye on some classy ones straight from jolly old england. i'm slightly obsessed with a particular pattern called polka rose. it's from the 1930's by royal albert.

it's just so dainty!
i don't think i would ever use it
unless the queen came for tea
but then again...

then there are some beautiful starter sets that i'd like to get my paws on. they're a retrospective of the 20th century by royal albert. i just love the way you can see the style progress from decade to decade!

i love tulips, again...

There is a joke I could tell here but for my readers who are slightly faint of heart I won’t. Anyways I love spring. I’ve probably already written a blog about this but I bought more tulips this weekend and they’re starting to bloom. I get this warm feeling in my tummy… No more snow, warmer days, no more snow. Oh spring I’ve missed ya!

the most purplest bench you ever did see

i'm the worst blogger ever let me tell ya. i have all these projects on the go but i always forget to take 'before' pictures... i bought an old piano bench from value village a week ago (for $3.99!) it was horribly 70's. light wood and a brown plastically, pleatherish cover. let's just say my dad liked it, and when i told him my plans for it he asked me why we couldn't just leave things alone. i don't know who he meant by 'we', but i'm assuming he means women in general because we're always screwing around with things. so, i bought some spray paint in a glossy grape, and i had some ideas for the seat cover. i've been in love with amy butler fabric for as long as i've know what amy butler fabric was (about a year...) and i knew it had the right pizzazz for this little project. let me tell ya how freaking stoked i am about this bench! it's the brightest thing i've ever created but somehow it fits in with everything else!

isn't it the purplest!
and i drove all the way to ottawa st. for the fabric

it doesn't quite fit under the table,
but i still love it!
